 Remember that sit-n-knit sessions are held every Thursday from 1:30-3:30.  Bring what you are knitting, or start a new project. 

Please stop by or call to add your name to the classes that are forming.  Materials and supplies are available at the shop and you will receive a 10% discount on yarns and supplies for the class.  Please pay for class and purchase supplies prior to start of class and mention the class for the 10% discount. Class size is limited so please sign up early.    If you can't make one of the scheduled classes ask about lessons that are available on a private basis.  

*Basic Knitting Skills-must know how to cast-on, knit, purl, increase, decrease.

Class Schedule-September/October 2008 

   

Beginning Knitting:  This class is for you if you have never picked up a knitting needle.  Two  2 hour      sessions:  Learn how to cast on, do the knit & purl stitch and cast off 

Class times:   Friday Aug 29 & Sept 5   Time:  11-1

Class cost : $25.00 plus materials:  Worsted weight yarn and #10 needles.

Continental Knitting:  (basic knitting skills required) Learn how to knit and purl while carrying the yarn in your left hand.  This technique is also known as "picking" and is faster and easier on your hands.

One  2 hour session.

Class Times:  Wednesday September 10     Time:  11-1

Class cost:  $15.00 plus materials.  Worsted weight yarn and appropriate needle size

 Top Down Baby Sweater (basic knitting skills required)

Learn how to knit a baby cardigan from the top down.  No seaming required.  Learn how to read the pattern and pick up stitches for the neck band and front bands.  Also learn how to knit the sleeves in the round using DP needles or the magic loop.  Come by and see the sample.  Once you learn the basics you can go on to knit an adult sweater in the same way.

Class Times: Saturday October 11, 18 & 25    Time 11-1

Class cost for 3 sessions: $35.00 plus materials

Socks on 1 Circular needle-basic knitting skills required. Learn how to knit socks in the round using 1 long circular needle.  You will start out making a top down sock using DK weight yarn.  Sock pattern provided.  You will need safety pin stitch marker   size 3 40"circular needle and DK weight yarn

Class Times:  Friday September 12, 19 & 26  Time:  11-1

Class Cost for 3 sessions:  $35.00 plus materials

Beginning Cables-basic knitting skills required
 Learn how to do basic cables.  You will be knitting cable sampler squares that you can sew together for a small purse or pillow.

Class Times:   Tuesday Sept 16 & 23  Time:  11-1

Cost for 2 sessions:  $25.00 plus materials.  You will need worsted weight yarn, cable needles, markers and needles appropriate for yarn.  

MultiDirectional Triangle Scarf—(basic knitting skills required) Learn how to do a multidirectional scarf .  You will learn the basics of short row knitting, increases & decreases.

Class Times:  Saturday Sept 13 & 20   Time:  11-1

Class Cost:  $25.00 plus materials.  Needle size will be determined by yarn used.

 Fair Isle Sweater Class (advanced beginner to intermediate) Learn  to knit a fair isle sweater, in the round using steeks.  This class will be taught by Cindy Wasner.  She will teach you how to knit utilizing both hands for the two colors used per row.   

Class Times:  Wed Sept 17, 24, & Oct 8 Time: 1:30-3:30 These dates will be for the first 3 classes to get you started, we will meet again once a month on a Wed (dates to be determined)

Class Cost:  $50.00 for the first 3 sessions,  then $10 for each session after that, plus materials.

Class size is limited and you will need to sign up & purchase materials as soon as you can.
